What Lake Oconee Life Is All About …
Hi, I’m Holly Lindsey, the face behind Lake Oconee Life.
Although I’m originally from Long Island, I have lived in Georgia for most of my life, and in Lake Oconee for nearly six years now. When I first drove through the Lake Oconee area while moving my daughter Madi to her new college apartment in Augusta, I was immediately smitten, and six months later I arrived at Reynolds Lake Oconee with the u-haul.
Yes, it was pretty much love at first sight with me and Georgia’s Lake Country, and the more I got to know Lake Oconee, the more I started recognizing the need for a community hub to keep locals up to date with all the events, activities, dining, and shopping that make our community special. I created Lake Oconee Life to fill that gap, and have been thrilled at how sharing local information with this community has also helped me to discover new opportunities and events that I might have missed out on otherwise!
Our mission here at LOL is to bridge the gap between our four communities here at Lake Oconee, creating a central hub of community information to make sure that you never miss out on the fun!
We do this by collaborating with local businesses, Lake Oconee attractions, churches, charities, and individuals to provide you with the most up to date info on things to do, special events, and great local deals and giveaways.
Events: Every week at Lake Oconee is so packed with exciting activities, from concerts to art exhibits to charity fundraisers, that you absolutely need our interactive calendar to keep up with signature local events such as The Lake Oconee Food & Wine Festival, The Big Event, Rhythm and Brews, Denim & Diamonds, The Fire & Ice Festival, and more.
Lake Oconee Kids: Our community is filled with amazing opportunities for kids and families to enjoy, but it can be hard to keep up or to know everything that’s available when you finally have a free weekend to fill with family time, or when you need to plan a 10th birthday party and you have no idea where to get started. LOL has all the resources you need to maximize the fun in your quality time.
Shopping: The stores in the Lake Oconee area can be enjoyed even by individuals who aren’t usually cheered up by retail therapy. There is something for everyone—chic clothing and jewelry, creations handmade by local artists and artisans, fishing and camping gear to help you make the most of our natural wonders, and so much more.
Eat + Drink: The Lake Oconee area boasts some of the best food and drink this side of I-20. It isn’t often you find a place that can offer the best ice-cold beer and downhome Southern cooking for one meal, and gourmet entrees and craft cocktails for the next. Whatever you’re craving, our community has it.
Deals: Lake Oconee Life has forged a strong relationship with local businesses, and they turn to us to promote the great deals they want to make sure your hear about. We help businesses find new customers and help customers save money while getting great products and services.
Contests: Lake Oconee Life loves a contest, and we team up with local businesses to offer prizes that make it more than worth your while to enter, and to stay tuned for the next chance to win.
Lake Oconee Life is truly a family affair, and here are the special people in my life that help me make this website so special.
Two years after moving to Lake Oconee, I married my husband Lynward, the kindest and most supportive man I’ve ever met (thank you, Roddie Anne). After retiring from Georgia Power, Lynward granted himself a six-month sabbatical. Now that his six months and then some are up, he has happily transitioned into working as our Chief Event Coordinator. He gathers all the events in the Lake Oconee and Lake Sinclair area so that I can pass them on to you.
I have three daughters: Madison, Tory and Evan. Madi is engaged and lives in the Augusta area, check out her postcast, Millennials Wining. Tory is in Atlanta, completing her Bachelor’s degree at Georgia State University. Evan Grace, plans on being a Rock Star, but in the meantime, she’s focusing her energy on finishing up third grade at Gatewood, and performing as our Lake Oconee Kids YouTube star!
And thanks to my beloved Lynward, I also have another daughter, a son-in-law, and two grandchildren.
This, my friends, is the real deal. My family! How I love them. :)
Whether you are visiting Lake Oconee for the first time or have lived here for years, our up-to-date information about shows, concerts, hidden steals and deals, and things to do for all ages, will make LakeOconeeLife.com your go-to resource for local fun.
