Bone Island Grillhouse
Bone Island Grillhouse has been a part of Georgia’s Lake Country since 2008, when it opened at its former Lake Sinclair location. Kara Fuller joined the team in April of 2011, and soon recruited her brother Ryan Winfield to come on board as the operations manager. In early 2012, she recruited another brother, Jody Winfield as executive chef, bringing his flair for fabulous food, and completing the trio that still drives the restaurant today.
In June 2012, to continue growing the business and brand, the company’s managers decided to move the restaurant to Lake Oconee, where they met with such success that they chose to expand into a second location in the Athens/Watkinsville area in September 2016.
Bone Island Grillhouse—B.I.G. for short—serves up outstanding food with exceptional service, in a casual, family-friendly atmosphere. Standouts include their Shrimp and Grits, Gumbo, and Jambalya. “Cooking with Paula Dean” even featured their Shrimp and Grits on a list of Top 10 to Try. B.I.G. is more than just a restaurant, however. They’ve recently begun producing Grillhouse Brand’s delicious Fresh Herb Parmesan Vinaigrette: a fresh, all-natural, gluten-free dressing made locally in Eatonton, Georgia. And they have lots of experience making events great through their catering services.
The people behind Bone Island Grillhouse pride themselves on their passion for the restaurant business, and their dedication to ensuring a terrific experience for their guests. Their mission is to be the preferred restaurant for both B.I.G. guests and team members by striving for excellence through Purpose, Passion, and Pride. They also love to hear feedback from guests on the menu. They’re currently working on the new spring menu and want to strike the right balance of preserving old favorites and introducing new ones, so be sure to let them know what you think!
