Plaza Arts Center
This picturesque building is the perfect backdrop for your next event. The Plaza Arts Center believes that you shouldn’t have to live in a major metropolitan city to experience outstanding live entertainment. Since opening to the public in 2008 over 45,000 people visit annually to enjoy a variety of programs, attend meetings and events, or partake in educational opportunities.
Their mission is to “connect the community through the arts,” and do so grounded in three words. Create. Cultivate. Celebrate.
The Plaza Alliance for the Performing Arts, also known as PAPA, helps with the “create” part by putting on a number of shows each year. Past shows including Nunsense (2013), Harvey (2015), A Chorus Line (2017), and Rumors (2019). From the front of house to backstage, volunteers make up every PAPA production.
The team at The Plaza Arts Center prides themselves on being a place of education, cultivating knowledge and new skills. Learn about local history by stepping back in time in the Old School History Museum. Enroll in a class and learn about knitting, photography, video editing, or dance. In the summer, they offer an array of camps. Perhaps your little artist would enjoy art camp, or your budding thespian would thrive in theater camp. Keep the fun going all year long with the After School Arts Program for children in kindergarten to 8th grade.
Lastly, celebrate! Located in the heart of downtown Eatonton The Plaza Arts Center serves as host to multiple civic meeting groups, weddings, concerts, and so much more.
