The Best Girls' Weekend At Lake Oconee Ever!

Girls Weekend at the Lake Made Easy

Some of your friends will come to visit and be content to lie out in the sun, take an occasional dip in the lake, then relax with wine and delivery pizza in the evening—but some friends require a girls’ weekend with a little more pizazz and planning. Here’s a suggested itinerary that we think everyone will enjoy!

Friday

6:00pm Dinner out at Bone Island Grillhouse or Lake Oconee Bistro

Your friends will be impressed with dinner out at one of these two Lake Oconee favorites, but don’t wait too long to go out, because both restaurants get busy on weekends. They do both have full bars so you can sip cocktails and catch up while you wait. Both restaurants are laid back but still classy, with varied menus that offer a range of options from mahi-mahi to great salads to filet mignon. Lake Oconee Bistro is one of the few restaurants that accept reservations, or you can take a boat to Bone Island Grillhouse and dock right outside.

Saturday

9:30am Late Breakfast at Café 44

No need to get up early, especially since you probably stayed up late talking the night before, and no need to cook at home when you have Café 44 in Greensboro. Head over for amazing omelets, breakfast sandwiches, yogurt parfaits, pastries, and more. Gather on comfortable, coffee shop style seating, and take your time with your hot breakfast and iced mocha.

11:00am New Beginnings Nail Salon and Spa

After breakfast, walk everyone just a couple of doors down to New Beginnings for a lovely, laid-back, full-service spa experience, with complimentary coffee, tea, or infused water, and upscale beauty products like CND Shellac Gel Nail Polish. Arrange for group mani-pedis, facials, or eyebrow sculpting, then get made up by a professional makeup artist, so everyone can look gorgeous just for the fun of it. *Due to COVID-19, they are only accepting appointments and you must wear a facemask.

2:00pm Shopping and Lunch at Parkside Main and Parkside Commons

About one mile from New Beginnings you’ll find another great area of shops and restaurants at Parkside Main and Parkside Commons. Here are some highlights:

  • The French Hare: A great little shop to browse for gift, home decor and shop local artists.

  • Plantation Olive Oil: Premium olive oils and gourmet vinegars for food lovers.

  • Filet Steak and Seafood: A welcoming, bistro-style restaurant with seasonal dishes, great steaks, seafood, pasta, salads, craft beer, quality wine and specialty cocktails.

5:00 to 8:00pm Oconee Brewing Company or an Outdoor Concert

The Oconee Brewing Company is a craft beer brewery with a tasting room and a 3,600 square foot event space featuring an 18-foot, floor-to-ceiling glass wall that opens out onto a charming courtyard and patio. They have a Saturday evening concert series where there’s plenty of great beer and usually a food truck as well. If there isn’t a food truck at this particular event, however, they do welcome outside food, so you can pick up some sandwiches or pizza on the way.

Sunday

10:30am-1:30pm Hey, Remember the Lake?

Sunday afternoon is a perfect time to head back to beautiful Lake Oconee for some outdoor time. Keep things chill by swimming and relaxing in the sun, or turn it up a notch on jet skis, water skis, or wakeboards. If you don’t have your own equipment, no problem—there are a ton of equipment rental businesses on the lake, such as Young Harris Watersports, which will actually deliver a boat, kayak, jet ski, or whatever, straight to you!

Whether your group chooses to cruise around on a pontoon with a full cooler and some great music, or zoom across the water at high speeds, everyone is sure to have a fantastic time—and to want to come back to visit again very soon!

We hope you have enjoyed this weekend guide for the best girl’s weekend ever.
