Step into nature and discover how people survived long before modern grocery stores during the Edible and Multi-use Plant Hike on Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Hard Labor Creek State Park.
Led by a park ranger along the scenic Brantley Nature Trail, this educational 1-mile guided hike explores the fascinating history of native plants and their many uses for food, medicine, and survival crafts. Participants will learn the basics of plant identification, safety, and how plants were historically used to make baskets, tools, and other everyday necessities.
Designed for ages 10 and older, this program is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, hikers, homeschool families, and anyone interested in history, botany, or wilderness skills.
Please note: This is not a foraging program. The hike is intended solely for plant identification and historical education.
