The Shark Is Broken

Audiences are invited to step behind the scenes of one of Hollywood’s most iconic films with The Shark Is Broken, a gripping and entertaining stage play that dives into the turbulent making of Jaws, the world’s first blockbuster.

Set on the open ocean in 1974, filming has been delayed once again. Confined to a too-small boat are three very different actors: seasoned theatre legend Robert Shaw and rising Hollywood stars Richard Dreyfuss and Roy Scheider. At the mercy of foul weather and a malfunctioning mechanical shark, tensions rise as alcohol flows, egos clash, and tempers flare. What unfolds is a raw, humorous, and deeply human look at the chaos, conflict, and unexpected camaraderie that may just lead to cinematic history—if it doesn’t sink them first.

Set aboard the Orca, The Shark Is Broken offers a profound and witty exploration of the choppy waters behind Hollywood’s first blockbuster. Celebrating movie history while revealing the personal struggles behind the camera, this compelling play is a must-see for film lovers, theater enthusiasts, and anyone fascinated by the stories that shape legendary cinema.

Author Sonny Seals to Speak at Morgan County Library’s March Sunday Talk

The Morgan County Library invites the community to its March Sunday Talk featuring author Sonny Seals, who will discuss his newest book, More Historic Rural Churches of Georgia, released on October 1, 2025. During the program, Seals will also share insights about the growing effort to establish a Georgia Historic Rural Church Trail, highlighting the history and cultural significance of rural houses of worship across the state.

Seals previously co-authored the widely celebrated book Historic Rural Churches of Georgia with George S. Hart, originally published in 2016. Now in its fourth printing, that book featured 47 historic churches from across Georgia and included art-quality photography from eight photographers, along with an introduction by John Scott Thomas and a foreword by former President Jimmy Carter.

The newly released 2025 volume, More Historic Rural Churches of Georgia, continues that legacy by showcasing 50 additional historic churches from throughout the state. The book features more than 250 stunning photographscaptured by 13 photographers, documenting both interior and exterior views of these remarkable historic structures. The new edition includes a foreword by Ambassador Andrew Young and an introductory essay by Doug E. Thompson and Noel Leo Erskine.

Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase copies of the book and have them signed by the author following the presentation. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Morgan County Library, and registration is not required, making it an accessible and engaging opportunity for anyone interested in Georgia history, architecture, and cultural heritage.

Lake Country Players Present “Two for One!” – Two Hilarious One-Act Comedies

The Lake Country Players invite audiences to enjoy “Two for One!”, a lively evening of laughter featuring two entertaining one-act comedies performed live at Festival Hall in downtown Greensboro. The production runs March 19–22, offering a fun and memorable night of theater for the whole family.

The first play, Mere Mortals by David Ives, takes audiences high above New York City during a lunch break on a construction girder fifty stories in the air. Three construction workers swap increasingly outrageous stories about their supposed past lives in a supernatural game of “Can You Top This?” The result is a clever and hilarious exploration of imagination, bravado, and tall tales.

The second comedy, I Hate Shakespeare! by Steph DeFerie, delivers a fast-paced, family-friendly romp through some of William Shakespeare’s most famous works. With a playful, modern twist and an SNL-style energy, this “loving lampoon” introduces audiences to Shakespeare’s characters and stories through quick sketches, witty jokes, and theatrical chaos that both longtime fans and newcomers will enjoy.

Tickets are $20 and available now at the Lake Country Players website. Guests can also enhance their theater night by pre-ordering a delicious charcuterie board from Chef Brent, delivered directly to them on their show night for a perfect pairing with the performance.

With two comedic productions in one evening, “Two for One!” promises a unique and laughter-filled night of local theater in downtown Greensboro.
