Looking for a great way to kick off your Independence Day weekend at Lake Oconee? The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee will once again light up the lake with a spectacular fireworks display on Friday, July 3, 2026, and the community is welcome to enjoy the show from the water.

The evening's featured entertainment, live concert, and resort festivities are reserved for registered Ritz-Carlton guests and Reynolds members. However, local residents and visitors can still be part of the celebration by boat and enjoy one of Lake Oconee's most anticipated fireworks displays.

What Locals Should Know

  • Fireworks can be viewed from boats on Lake Oconee near The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee.

  • Access to the concert, resort grounds, and live entertainment is limited to Ritz-Carlton guests and Reynolds members.

  • Community members and visitors who are not guests may enjoy the fireworks from the water.

  • Boaters are encouraged to arrive early, use navigation lights after sunset, and exercise caution as lake traffic will be heavier than normal.

Wagon rides depart every 20 minutes from across from the putt-putt course. Space is limited to 15 passengers per ride and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests should pay at the park office and bring their receipt to the wagon before boarding.

The celebration begins at 6:00 PM at the Morgan County Parks & Recreation Ballpark Complex with live music, inflatable attractions, food trucks, and activities for all ages. As the sun sets, enjoy one of the area's most anticipated Fourth of July traditions as the America 250 fireworks show launches from Bill Wood Park at approximately 9:00 PM.

For the best viewing experience, attendees are encouraged to spread out and watch from designated locations throughout the community, including Morgan County schools, the Soccer Complex, and the Morgan County Parks & Recreation Services Community Center. Please note that Bill Wood Park will be closed to the public during the fireworks display.

One of Lake Oconee's most anticipated Independence Day traditions returns on July 4 as Great Waters at Reynolds Lake Oconee presents a spectacular fireworks display over the lake.

Important: Great Waters is a private Reynolds Lake Oconee community. If you are not a Reynolds member, resident, or guest with property access, the fireworks must be viewed by boat on Lake Oconee.

As darkness falls, the sky above Great Waters comes alive with a dazzling fireworks show reflected across the water, creating a memorable Fourth of July experience for boaters and lakeside residents alike.

Boaters are encouraged to arrive early to secure a viewing location and allow extra time for increased lake traffic before and after the show. Throughout the holiday weekend, Lake Oconee will be bustling with boating, family gatherings, waterfront dining, and Independence Day celebrations across Georgia's Lake Country.

Viewing Information: Non-members and visitors without access to Great Waters should plan to watch the fireworks from a boat on Lake Oconee, as access within the community is restricted to Reynolds Lake Oconee members, residents, and their guests.
