Three lakefront campgrounds: Lawrence Shoals, Old Salem, and Parks Ferry, with beaches, boat ramps, and campsites. Find tent and RV sites, hiking trails, and picnic areas right on Lake Oconee.

Boating + Water Sports
Rent a pontoon, jet ski, kayak, or paddleboard from marinas around the lake, no boat of your own required. Calm coves suit paddlers; the open stretches were made for skiing and tubing. Georgia Wake Lessons teaches wakeboarding, wakesurfing, and boat driving out of White Plains, and runs multi-day camps for kids and adults in season.
Swimming + Beaches
Lake Oconee’s most famous swim spot isn’t a beach, it’s the Sandbar, a waist-deep stretch in the middle of the lake where boaters anchor up to swim and socialize, about 10 minutes from the Jumping Rock. Both are reachable from the Armour Bridge boat launch at the end of Brown’s Ford Road.
Prefer sand under your feet? Lawrence Shoals, Old Salem, and Parks Ferry campgrounds all have designated swimming beaches, picnic areas, playgrounds and easy family access.
Fishing

Golf
Sports + Recreation
Reynolds Lake Oconee’s collection of signature courses draws golfers from across the country, while Harbor Club, ranked among Georgia’s Best Courses You Can Play, is the lake’s public favorite. Every skill level is covered.
Nature + Trails
Lawrence Shoals has an archery range with 3-D targets, and Parks Ferry adds a full outdoor sports area for volleyball and games. Prefer wheels? Okana Outdoors rents and sells ebikes for exploring the local trails.
Rock Hawk Effigy and Trails winds 25 miles through woods and wetlands, anchored by an ancient bird-shaped stone effigy. Nearby Rock Eagle adds a 2000-year-old effigy listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Bring binoculars, more than 200 bird species have been recorded here.
Arts + Culture
Oconee Performing Arts Society (OPAS)
PERFORMING ARTS
Since 2007, OPAS has brought Broadway, classical, and chamber performances to Lake Country.
Shows split between Festival Hall and the Plaza Arts Center.
