The Shark Is Broken

Audiences are invited to step behind the scenes of one of Hollywood’s most iconic films with The Shark Is Broken, a gripping and entertaining stage play that dives into the turbulent making of Jaws, the world’s first blockbuster.

Set on the open ocean in 1974, filming has been delayed once again. Confined to a too-small boat are three very different actors: seasoned theatre legend Robert Shaw and rising Hollywood stars Richard Dreyfuss and Roy Scheider. At the mercy of foul weather and a malfunctioning mechanical shark, tensions rise as alcohol flows, egos clash, and tempers flare. What unfolds is a raw, humorous, and deeply human look at the chaos, conflict, and unexpected camaraderie that may just lead to cinematic history—if it doesn’t sink them first.

Set aboard the Orca, The Shark Is Broken offers a profound and witty exploration of the choppy waters behind Hollywood’s first blockbuster. Celebrating movie history while revealing the personal struggles behind the camera, this compelling play is a must-see for film lovers, theater enthusiasts, and anyone fascinated by the stories that shape legendary cinema.

Mandy Barnett-Winter Wonderland

Celebrate the season with a magical evening of music at Mandy Barnett – Winter Wonderland, featuring Grand Ole Opry member Mandy Barnett, one of Nashville’s most enduring and beloved musical treasures. Having begun singing at just five years old, Barnett has spent a lifetime captivating audiences with her extraordinary voice on stages around the world.

Rooted in the timeless traditions of classic country and pop crooning, Barnett’s performances are known for their emotional depth and interpretive brilliance. With a voice famously described as “pipes of steel” by the Los Angeles Times, she brings warmth, power, and heart to every song—earning her the reputation, as one record executive put it, of being “a song’s best friend.”

Barnett first rose to national prominence as the original star of Always… Patsy Cline at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. She remains the only actress to portray Patsy Cline on the very stage where Cline’s legend began, performing on the original cast recording and selling out nightly shows to critical acclaim. Since then, Barnett has continued to wow audiences through her concerts and recordings.

Mandy Barnett – Winter Wonderland promises a festive, elegant performance filled with timeless vocals, seasonal spirit, and unforgettable moments—perfect for welcoming the beauty of winter through song.

When soaring melodies, lush harmonies, moving texts and beautiful voices combine, our souls can be touched in moving ways.

The community is invited to a free concert, "Music for the Soul," presented by the East Georgia Concert Chorale.

Under the direction of Dr. Brian Williams, the twenty-five-member choral ensemble has a mission to unite hearts and minds in song to the benefit of the community. Selections span five centuries and include "What Is a Heart" by Duson, "The May Night" by Brahms, "Gloria" by Haydn, "If Music Be the Food of Love" by Dickau, "Measure Me, Sky!" by Hagenberg, "Little Innocent Lamb" (Spiritual, arr. Bartholomew), and more.

The concert takes place Thursday, May 28 at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro, located at 117 S. Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642. No tickets are required.

At the end of the concert, attendees will have the opportunity to donate to Our Father's Kitchen, a collaborative community effort in Greensboro and the Lake Oconee area. OFK provides free Saturday lunches to address local food insecurity. Supported by multiple downtown churches and the Rotary Club, the program serves approximately 120 meals weekly and supports youth and backpack programs.
