Auditions open for Shrek the Musical this Summer
Get ready to journey to Far Far Away! Auditions for the hit Broadway show, Shrek the Musical, are now open. Shrek is presented through The Plaza Arts Center and The Arts Barn’s Broadway Intensive Program. This program takes place over two weeks with rehearsals being from 9 am until 5 pm throughout the week. Performers aged 15–30 are invited to join the fun-filled, fairy-tale adventure.
Based on the beloved animated film, Shrek the Musical brings everyone’s favorite ogre to the stage alongside a hilarious cast of fairy-tale characters. The show is packed with high-energy songs, heart, and humor for the whole family.
Auditions are totally virtual. Auditions will consist of three components: singing, acting, and dancing. All components must be included in one continuous video, beginning with a slate.
Slate Requirements: Please introduce yourself, stating your name, age and/or grade, and a brief fun fact or introduction.
Singing: Prepare 30–45 seconds of a song that best showcases your voice. Use accompaniment, an instrumental track, or self-accompaniment. Frame from shoulders up.
Acting: Prepare a 30–60 second monologue. Frame from shoulders up.
Dancing: Learn the provided dance combination at theartsbarn.net. Record yourself using the provided audio or run-through video. Full body must be in frame. Wear clothing and shoes suitable for movement.
Do not edit the video beyond connecting the three sections. Upload your video to YouTube and set it to “Unlisted,” then include the link in your submission. Along with the video, participants need to also submit a resume, headshot, and the audition form found at theartsbarn.net. Auditions are due by March 14.

Guests are invited to a creative and relaxing morning at the Craft with Sarah Handmade Greeting Card Workshop on March 12 from 10 AM to 12 PM at Compassion Café. During this hands-on class, participants will spend a cozy morning crafting three beautiful handmade greeting cards they can proudly give to someone special or display at home.
The workshop is designed for all skill levels, and no experience is necessary. Sarah will guide participants step by step through the process, and all supplies are provided- just bring a willingness to create and enjoy the experience.
Participants may pay $30 online in advance or at the class, making it an easy and welcoming way to spend a creative morning in the community.
Storytime for Early Learners

Wish Night at Lake Oconee
Make-A-Wish Georgia is hosting the third annual Wish Night on March 12, 2026, at The Pavilion at The Ritz-Carlton. Lake Country Players Present “Two for One!” – Two Hilarious One-Act Comedies
The Lake Country Players invite audiences to enjoy “Two for One!”, a lively evening of laughter featuring two entertaining one-act comedies performed live at Festival Hall in downtown Greensboro. The production runs March 19–22, offering a fun and memorable night of theater for the whole family.
The first play, Mere Mortals by David Ives, takes audiences high above New York City during a lunch break on a construction girder fifty stories in the air. Three construction workers swap increasingly outrageous stories about their supposed past lives in a supernatural game of “Can You Top This?” The result is a clever and hilarious exploration of imagination, bravado, and tall tales.
The second comedy, I Hate Shakespeare! by Steph DeFerie, delivers a fast-paced, family-friendly romp through some of William Shakespeare’s most famous works. With a playful, modern twist and an SNL-style energy, this “loving lampoon” introduces audiences to Shakespeare’s characters and stories through quick sketches, witty jokes, and theatrical chaos that both longtime fans and newcomers will enjoy.

The Plaza Arts Center and The Arts Barn are proud to be collaborating for another year on The Coffee House series featuring Coffee Houses, Mocha Houses and Cocoa Houses. Players will have access to the driving range and putting greens until 11:40 AM to warm up before tee time. Lunch is included with registration and will be provided by Chick-fil-A, and complimentary beer, water, and sodas will be available throughout the day. The Plaza Arts Center and The Arts Barn are proud to be collaborating for another year on The Coffee House series featuring Coffee Houses, Mocha Houses and Cocoa Houses. The Coffee House Series invites the community to gather for a relaxed and inspiring evening celebrating creativity in all its forms. This free event showcases a wide range of local talent, featuring live music, theater, dance and more, all in a welcoming, coffee-house style atmosphere.
Designed to bring artists and audiences together, the Coffee House Series offers a platform for performers of all backgrounds, ages, and experience levels to share their work in an intimate and supportive setting.
The Coffee Houses are designed for high school and college aged performers. Cocoa Houses are designed for middle and elementary school performers and Mocha Houses are designed for performers of all ages. The Plaza Arts Center and The Arts Barn are proud to be collaborating for another year on The Coffee House series featuring Coffee Houses, Mocha Houses and Cocoa Houses. The Coffee House Series invites the community to gather for a relaxed and inspiring evening celebrating creativity in all its forms. This free event showcases a wide range of local talent, featuring live music, theater, dance and more, all in a welcoming, coffee-house style atmosphere.
Designed to bring artists and audiences together, the Coffee House Series offers a platform for performers of all backgrounds, ages, and experience levels to share their work in an intimate and supportive setting.
The Coffee Houses are designed for high school and college aged performers. Cocoa Houses are designed for middle and elementary school performers and Mocha Houses are designed for performers of all ages. Seuss on the Loose Fun Run and Festival
Putnam Reads invites families to lace up their sneakers for the Seuss on the Loose Fun Run & Festival on March 7 at Putnam County Primary School. This colorful, Seuss-inspired community event combines an energetic fun run with a lively family festival designed to celebrate reading, imagination, and healthy fun.
Registration begins at 9:00 a.m., with the race kicking off at 9:30 a.m. Children and families are encouraged to come dressed in playful, Seuss-themed attire as they enjoy a morning filled with movement, laughter, and community spirit. Participants who preregister by February 20 will receive an event T-shirt.
Following the run, the festival continues from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., featuring kid-friendly activities and entertainment that bring favorite storybook themes to life. Festival wristbands are available for $10, making it an affordable and engaging outing for families. Coffee House Series Brings Community Together for a Free Evening of Live Arts
The Plaza Arts Center and The Arts Barn are proud to be collaborating for another year on The Coffee House series featuring Coffee Houses, Mocha Houses and Cocoa Houses. The Coffee House Series invites the community to gather for a relaxed and inspiring evening celebrating creativity in all its forms. This free event showcases a wide range of local talent, featuring live music, theater, dance and more, all in a welcoming, coffee-house style atmosphere.
Designed to bring artists and audiences together, the Coffee House Series offers a platform for performers of all backgrounds, ages, and experience levels to share their work in an intimate and supportive setting.
The Coffee Houses are designed for high school and college aged performers. Cocoa Houses are designed for middle and elementary school performers and Mocha Houses are designed for performers of all ages. Admission is free and open to the public, making the Coffee House Series accessible to everyone. The first Coffee House of the series is February 27 at The Plaza Arts Center.
