More about the event:

“Justin Varnes' "The Jazz Legacy Project" has been selling out its monthly residency at the Velvet Note in Atlanta for over 5 years. His quartet takes iconic jazz figures and brings their stories and music to life in a setting that is both entertaining and educational. From performers such as John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, Billie Holiday, and Charlie Parker, to composers such as Billy Strayhorn, Cole Porter and Johnny Mercer, the concerts mix rousing performances with music appreciation and history. The Jazz Legacy Project features Justin Varnes on drums, Nick Rosen on keyboard, Kevin Smith on bass, Justin Powell on trumpet and Nicole Chillemi as guest vocalist. This program is supported in part by Georgia Council for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.”
