Step into a powerful story of immigration, identity, and citizenship at the "Becoming an American Citizen" exhibit at the Steffen Thomas Museum of Art. On display through July 31, 2026, this special America250 exhibition explores artist Steffen Thomas’s journey from Germany to becoming a United States citizen through an engaging collection of original documents, personal artifacts, historic photographs, artwork, and poetry.

Visitors will discover replicas of America’s founding documents alongside Thomas’s actual citizenship papers and the flag presented to him upon becoming a U.S. citizen. Through these meaningful artifacts and artistic works, the exhibit offers a unique perspective on the immigrant experience, American identity, and the ideals that inspired Thomas throughout his life. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, this thought-provoking exhibition invites guests to explore history, art, and personal storytelling in a compelling and memorable way.
