Experience the wonders of the night sky during a special Public Open Night at the Hard Labor Creek Observatory (HLCO) on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

Located within Hard Labor Creek State Park in Rutledge, Georgia, the observatory offers visitors a rare opportunity to explore the universe through professional-grade telescopes far away from the light pollution of larger cities. Hosted monthly from March through October, these public viewing nights welcome astronomy enthusiasts of all ages.

Weather permitting, guests will have the chance to observe planets, star clusters, galaxies, nebulae, and other celestial objects through several powerful telescopes, including the impressive McAlister Telescope and Miller Telescope. Observatory staff and volunteers will be available to answer questions and share fascinating insights about astronomy and space exploration.
