Saturday @the Rock: Guided Hike to the Mound

  • Rock Eagle 4-H Center 350 Rock Eagle Road Eatonton, GA, 31024 United States (map)
Rock Eagle Mound |LakeOconeeLife.com

It’s a good time to be in Eatonton; the stifling Georgia heat has left us until next summer, and Rock Eagle has welcomed fall with open arms! It’s time to get outside and enjoy the crisp autumn air, the crunch of leaves underfoot, and the always breathtaking landscape, painted red, yellow and orange. Join us November 10th for a guided hike up to the Rock Eagle Mound. Learn about the history of the effigy as well as local flora and fauna from one of our seasoned naturalists. Dress for the cooler weather and wear comfortable walking shoes, as the hike is approximately 2.5 miles round trip. Our Rock Eagle educators are unparalleled in their expertise of effigy history and local biology; it’s time to take advantage. Doors will open at 9:00am and the hike will depart promptly at 9:30am from the Natural History Museum.

Don’t miss your last chance to participate in this year’s Saturday at the Rock series. Advanced registration is required. For more information, please contact Audrey Stadler at (706)484-2871 or by email at astadler@uga.edu. This program is appropriate for all ages and costs $3 per person, free ages 4 and under
