Water Ecology

  • Hard Labor Creek State Park 5 Hard Labor Creek Road Rutledge, Georgia, 30663 United States (map)

Cool off while discovering the fascinating world beneath the water's surface during Water Ecology on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Hard Labor Creek State Park.

Led by park staff, this interactive outdoor program invites participants to wade into a creek and investigate the aquatic ecosystem using dip nets to safely observe macroinvertebrates, crayfish, fish, and other freshwater organisms. Along the way, participants will learn how these creatures help scientists understand water quality and the health of local ecosystems.

Perfect for curious kids, families, and nature enthusiasts, this hands-on educational experience combines science, exploration, and outdoor fun. Participants should wear water shoes and clothing that can get wet or dirty.
