Join The Plaza Arts Center and The Arts Barn for a fun-filled summer camp at Lake Oconee! This camp is perfect for rising 3rd – 8th graders who are interested in acting, singing, and dancing.

Campers will have the opportunity to explore their talents in these areas, while also participating in theatre games that will enhance their acting skills and teach them how to work together as an ensemble.

Get ready for Shining Stars 2023! Big things are in the works for your young performers - Shining Stars Performing Arts Academy is a faith-based, overnight camp that combines professional instruction in singing, acting, and dancing with all the fun that camp has to offer! In addition to training with world-class instructors, young performers are able to experience professional audio and video recording sessions. Within the week, they are able to create music videos and short films. Shining Stars is currently held at the beautiful Camp Swamp in Union Point, GA.

The Shining Stars Performing Arts Academy will be back at Camp Swamp on June 26- July 2, 2022! This summer, they are excited to combine live, on-stage performing elements and on-screen camera techniques.

Shining Stars will be a great experience for anyone looking to build their confidence, leadership training, and talent development. Studies show that students involved in the Arts score higher on SATs and learn to be more comfortable in social situations. So whether you are just starting out or have been performing since you were born (we've heard the stories!), there is a place here for everyone to grow in a very safe, non-threatening environment. And if you are thinking about trying to make a career in entertainment, there will also be special classes on how to use your talents for God while thriving spiritually in the field of entertainment.

The title of the show is “Rats” – the story of the Pied Piper. We will explore this German tale, and express the story through acting, song and dance. During the week, we will also get to know our fellow campers better by playing theater games that hone acting skills and help the participant learn how to engage as an ensemble member. Exploring games and activities from German culture will also be part of the fun. The experience will culminate with a showcase performance of all those things featured during the week. The performance will be at Festival Hall on Saturday, July 13th at 11:00 am.

Volunteer greeters will meet you as you walk your child in for morning drop-off and again as you come inside to collect your child at noon. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes that allow you to move easily. There will be lots of motion!

Please bring a snack and lunch each day. It’s important to note no tree nuts or peanut products are allowed.

The camp cost is $175 per child and is due in full by June 28th. A special camp t-shirt is being designed to commemorate the week and is included in the camp cost.
