Theatre Week Summer Camp at Georgia College & State University

Let your child step into the spotlight during Theatre Week Summer Camp at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, Georgia. This exciting performing arts camp invites young creatives to explore acting, movement, storytelling, and stage performance in a supportive and imaginative environment.

Part of the popular Bobcat Explorers Summer Camp program at GCSU, Theatre Week gives campers the chance to develop confidence, creativity, and collaboration skills while experiencing life on a vibrant college campus near Lake Sinclair.

A Unique Summer Camp Experience in Milledgeville

Unlike traditional camps, Bobcat Explorers Summer Camp focuses on deeper, hands-on learning experiences led by specialty instructors who bring advanced knowledge, creativity, and real-world expertise into every session.

Campers participate in engaging activities focused on areas such as:

  • Science and STEM exploration

  • Fine arts and creative expression

  • Athletics and physical activity

  • Interactive educational experiences

Dedicated counselors help create a welcoming, energetic, and encouraging environment where children can learn, explore, and build friendships.

A Performing Arts Camp for Young Actors and Storytellers

Throughout the week, campers participate in engaging theatre activities designed to help them discover their voice and express themselves through the performing arts.

Campers will explore:

  • Acting fundamentals and character development

  • Improvisation and theatre games

  • Creative movement and stage presence

  • Collaborative storytelling and scene work

Led by Cathleen O'Neal, Costume Shop Manager for the GCSU Department of Theatre and Dance, campers receive guidance from an experienced theatre professional while building new friendships and artistic confidence.

By the end of the week, campers celebrate their growth with new skills, new friends, and a deeper appreciation for theatre and the performing arts.

Daily Recreation & Swimming

In addition to expert-led programming, campers also enjoy daily recreation and swim time in the outdoor campus pool (weather permitting).

Certified lifeguards supervise all swim sessions to ensure camper safety.

Important swim information:

  • Campers must pass a swim test to swim without a life jacket

  • Life jackets are required for campers who do not pass the swim test

  • Pool time is supervised by certified lifeguards

Flexible Weekly Registration

One of the highlights of Bobcat Explorers Summer Camp at Georgia College is its flexible week-by-week registration. Families can choose the weeks that work best for their schedule while allowing campers to explore a variety of themed activities throughout the summer.

This flexible structure makes it one of the most convenient summer camps near Lake Sinclair and Milledgeville.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up Location

Back of the Georgia College Wellness and Recreation Center
(Signage will be posted on campus)

Drop-Off: 8:00 am – 8:30 am
Pick-Up: 3:30 pm – 4:00 pm

A guardian must walk each camper to the designated drop-off and pick-up area where a counselor will check them in and out. Please bring a photo ID for pickup.

What Campers Should Bring

To help campers have a fun and comfortable day at Bobcat Explorers Summer Camp, please bring:

  • Closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothes that can get messy

  • Water bottle

  • Packed lunch

  • Extra snack (one snack is provided daily)

  • Towel and swimsuit

  • Life jacket (if needed for swimming)

  • Wet bag for pool items

  • Bug spray

  • Sunscreen

Please do not bring electronics.

Be sure to label all camper belongings with first and last name.

Broadway Moves Musical Theatre Dance Camp at Georgia College & State University

Young performers can step into the spotlight during Broadway Moves Musical Theatre Dance Camp at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, Georgia, an exciting summer dance camp near Lake Sinclair designed for kids who love musical theatre, dance, and stage performance.

This high-energy musical theatre dance camp focuses on the choreography and movement styles that bring Broadway shows to life. Campers learn the fundamentals of Broadway-style dance, including jazz and tap techniques, while building confidence, stage presence, and performance skills.

Throughout the camp, participants will enjoy:

  • Dynamic dance warm-ups and conditioning

Shining Stars will be a great experience for anyone looking to build their confidence, leadership training, and talent development. Studies show that students involved in the Arts score higher on SATs and learn to be more comfortable in social situations. So whether you are just starting out or have been performing since you were born (we've heard the stories!), there is a place here for everyone to grow in a very safe, non-threatening environment. And if you are thinking about trying to make a career in entertainment, there will also be special classes on how to use your talents for God while thriving spiritually in the field of entertainment.

The performance will be at Festival Hall on Saturday, July 13th at 11:00 am.

Volunteer greeters will meet you as you walk your child in for morning drop-off and again as you come inside to collect your child at noon. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes that allow you to move easily. There will be lots of motion!

Please bring a snack and lunch each day. It’s important to note no tree nuts or peanut products are allowed.

The camp cost is $175 per child and is due in full by June 28th. A special camp t-shirt is being designed to commemorate the week and is included in the camp cost.
