Family Workshop // Steffen Thomas Museum of Art

On Saturday, August 21st from 10 a.m. to noon, the Steffen Thomas Museum of Art will hold a Family Workshop. Participants can explore some of Steffen’s artistic techniques at an accompanying workshop with animal watercolor projects and sculpture creations taught by local art educator, Ryan Pagett. Tickets are $15 per adult, $12 per child. Parents or guardians must accompany children under 12.


Animal Kingdom features art inspired by Steffen Thomas’s memorable animal friends. It is on view in the Steffen Thomas Museum of Art’s West Gallery from August 10 until September 4, 2021. Visitors will also find original animal paintings by Alice Lee Andreottola and Katie Wibell available for sale in the museum’s gift shop.

Gallery Activity: All ages are invited to participate in a scavenger hunt to find other animals in the Museum. Prizes for completing the scavenger hunt include a copy of Steffen’s Feline Friends, a zine with images and stories about the three big cats Steffen raised: Dick the Lion, Peter of Mentelle, and Toot the Lion.
