Madison-Morgan Cultural Center presents Seven Pioneers of Morgan County, Georgia on display at the center from July 1st to July 31st. The showing will be held in Gallery 1 of the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center for the month of July. The center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. The video duration is 42 minutes. The last showing will begin at 4:15PM. MMCC & MCLS Members admission is Free. Non-Members admission cost museum admission fee, which is Adults: $5, Seniors: $4, Students: $3, Children 6 and under: Free.

“Whether surrounded by lab equipment, children, audiences, or family, each of the seven Morgan County women shown in this video made a significant mark here, and some across the state, country, and even the world. All lives today are enriched by their singular accomplishments in education, cancer research, and women’s rights opportunities. All girls and women will be inspired by their talents, dreams, and intellect. The interviews herein were gleaned from oral histories video-recorded in 2008 and 2009 by the Morgan County Resource Preservation Advisory Board.

Pioneers featured, in order of appearance are: Amanda Cardwell – 1844-1898, Lula Hurst Atkinson – 1869-1950, Louise McHenry Hicky – 1891-1984, Hazeltine Jones Mitchell – 1905-1987, Annie Lee Stagg Small – 1920-2008, Roslyn Elizabeth Wallace – 1924-2009, and Adelaide Wallace Ponder – 1925-2015.”
